Selling some film cameras :(

I hate to do this, I really do, but the time has come to sell off some of my 35mm film cameras.

I have over 10 for sale right now, the majority are Canon. All have lenses if not multiple lenses included.

Here is the worst part, I’m selling some of my prized rangefinders, including 2 Lecia, one Nikon, and a Canon.

Yes, you read that right a Nikon! My collection has just gotten a little too large again and I need to thin it down a bit.

Developing a roll and my view on a Mamiya RB67

I developed a roll I shot with a Mamiya RB67. Here is my take:

Wow what a camera, okay that is what I would usually say, but my Hasselblad has me tainted. I enjoyed shooting the Mamiya RB67. It was just what I figured. I was originally looking to purchase one. I’m glad I didn’t but I’m just spoiled. The RB is just seems like a camera that is better suited to be in the studio and not out and around. The lens is a little slow. It is big and heavy. Loading films is cumbersome. It is overly complex and just seems like any wrong move would break a part. I’m glad to be giving it back, and will continue to be happy with my ‘Blad. Here a few photos from the roll. read more

I missed shooting…

A few weeks back I went to the first ever Harvard Balloon Fest. It was tough getting up early in the morning, getting my feet soaked and did I mention getting up early. I can easily say I am not a morning person. I was also the only person on the field who didn’t have a digital camera. I dared to take my untested Hasselblad 500 and 80mm f2.8 lens. I’m glad I did.

My new film cameras

Over this summer I have picked up a couple of film cameras. Not my day to day cameras, but some very usable film cameras.

One is a medium format camera. A Hasselblad 500. I had the electronic version the 500El, but always wanted the fully manual version. I now have an awesome 500c that I got from KEH.

I also purchased a 80mm f2.8 lens to complete my kit. Now I have a metering prism finder, two backs, 150mm and 80mm lenses. Very pleased with my ‘Blad setup.

The other camera is a Canon F1. This is another camera that has been on my list of must haves for a while. I own the other A-body Canon, but a nice F1 has always eluded me. I was lucky enough to get one last week. I don’t shoot much 35mm any longer but it will make a great camera for my daughters. read more

Opening a box from KEH.

In the video below. I am doing something simple. I am Opening a box from KEh. Would you like to find out what was in the box? Would you like to know what I ordered from KEH? I’ll give you a little hint. It is a new camera body. Is it digital or film? Can I use it with equipment I already have? You have to watch the video to find out.

I am impressed with KEH’s rating. This was supposed to be a bargain camera, it is a great deal. Much better than I could have imagined. Thanks KEH!

Impossible

I just can’t figure out Impossible Project Film. I can’t figure out the exposure. I can’t figure out how to get things in focus. I just can’t figure this film out. I’ve tried both the monochrome and the color packs. Once this pack is done I think I will sell my SX-70 and not purchase another pack. Too bad Fuji FP-100c has been discontinued.

The Process

What will the end photo look like?

Lighting?

What lens should I use?

What speed / apeture / iso or film?

Do I need a tripod?

What is my model wearing? How should she express herself?

These are just a few of the questions I ask myself before setting up a photo. This process is just as important for me as setting all this up. This question and answer session plays into every photo even those that are not set up.

This is just part of my process.
