Lightroom Tutorial | Changing the crop overlay

The video below has my “1st” of many Lightroom Tutorials. I plan to share a short video talking about a specific action regularly. This week we will be touching on the Crop Overlay Tool. How can I change it?

There are many reasons why you may want to change the tool, but the main one I can think of is to help out with different compositional elements. Move away from the rule of thirds and try to compose an image to one of the other “rules”

You will need a basic understanding of Lightroom for this to be helpful. Take a workshop!

Lightroom Export to WordPress Tutorial

A few weeks ago the folks at Automattic (better know as the WordPress company) released a plugin for Adobe Photoshop Lightroom. This plugin lets you export directly from Lightroom to your WordPress media gallery.

This saves a step in my Lightroom workflow. As you know I want to be as efficient as possible, so I will take anything that lets me remove a step.

You can download the plugin here: https://apps.wordpress.com/lightroom/

Don’t forget you can always follow along, pause, repeat and easily replicate any of the tutorial steps I take.

Combining Lightroom Catalogs Tutorial

Below you will find a short video tutorial for combining Adobe Photoshop Lightroom catalogs.

As many of you know, during my Lightroom workshops, I suggest starting a new catalog each calendar year. Well this year I am going to be trying something different. I am not going to be creating a new catalog. Instead I am going to try working from a master catalog. I will be continuing my organization structure from there on. During class I plan on sharing my new workflow. I am constantly learning, adjusting and changing how I work in Lightroom. Hopefully I can make Lightroom easier for you.

Fine tuning my Lightroom workflow

I am constantly fine tuning my Lightroom workflow.

I purchased a midi controller which I mapped to different sliders in the Lightroom develop module.

Now with keyboard shortcuts, pen tablet and the midi controller I rarely have to touch a mouse. My workflow has been refined more, I am spending less time in Lightroom and less time on the computer.

Want to learn more about my Adobe Photoshop Lightroom workflow? Join me for this workshop.

Do you need Lightroom help?

[bctt tweet=”Do you need Lightroom help? https://giovanniarroyo.com/need-lightroom-help/ ‎ #Lightroom” username=”gdotarroyo”]

Do you need Lightroom help? Does it look intimidating or at the very least daunting. Would you like to get started in a powerful editing too but don’t know where to start? Do you want to take your photo finishing to a professional level? Would you like to spend less time editing and more time shooting photos?

I can help! Below are just two ways that I can help you.

First off I teach a Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Kickoff workshop on a monthly basis. This is at the lovely Starline Gallery in Harvard. I will get you started on the right path. You will learn exactly what I do when I am done with a shoot. I will show you how I organize and cull my photos quickly and easily. You will learn the right way to export from lightroom and how I make that process painless. Right now you can even get a special deal during Nancy’s “We only have one sale a year” sale. Register for the class and learn my tips and secrets for making my workflow faster.

The second way is through one on one and mentoring basis. This is where I can answer your specific questions. In a one on one setting I can get more detailed and solve a specific problem you have. Maybe you would like to fix specific type of photo issue in post production. That is just one example of what I can do for you. The nice thing about these sessions is that the subject is up to you. I customise each session to fit your need. Just a little tip, it doesn’t have to be just Lightroom, I have a lot of photographic knowledge. Contact me to find out more.

How to edit with the free Nik Collection starting in Lightroom

The video above will share how I edit with the free Nik Collection plugins starting in Lightroom. Now that the Nik collection is free, I wanted to share how to actually access it inside of Lightroom CC. It is a bit different than how you would use a preset, but more like how to edit in Photoshop CC from Lightroom.
